The Project The consortium of John Holland, Bouygues Construction, Arcadis Australia, Jacobs and Ventia has been selected to build South Australia's biggest-ever road infrastructure project. In partnership with the South Australian Government, this consortium forms the Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance. The Torrens to Darlington (T2D) Alliance, will deliver the final 10.5km section of the North-South Corridor, forming a continuous 78 km, non-stop, traffic light-free motorway, and contributing to a long-lasting legacy for the community and people of Adelaide. The T2D Project involves constructing two separate tunnels – the Southern Tunnels and the Northern Tunnels connected by an open motorway, with a combined total distance of 10.5km, open to traffic in 2031. The T2D project comprises the tunnels, surface works including road and bridge construction in addition to services buildings and complex mechanical and electrical infrastructure. The Role We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior People Advisor to support the Human Resources function for the T2D Project. This role plays a pivotal part in managing employee relations and performance frameworks, while ensuring all people management activities including onboarding, training and development, remuneration, cultural diversity, and compliance are delivered to a high standard and in line with legislative requirements and project policies. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and project teams to manage complex employee relations matters, support workforce performance and capability, and provide practical HR advisory support. Through strong advisory support and practical HR solutions, you will contribute to achieving project objectives while fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. Responsibilities 5 years’ end-to-end payroll experience, ideally within construction, medium to large organisations or complex project environments Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including Fair Work requirements, superannuation, PAYG, leave entitlements, and termination payments Demonstrated experience interpreting Awards, EBAs, or enterprise agreements, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll outcomes Proven ability to manage high-volume payroll cycles with strong attention to detail and accuracy Experience performing payroll reconciliations, reporting, and audit support, with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation Confidence acting as an escalation point for complex payroll queries and resolving issues efficiently Strong systems capability with payroll platforms such as Dayforce (Preferred) SAP, Chris21/iChris, ADP, Workday, Preceda, or similar Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse payroll data and identify discrepancies A continuous improvement mindset, with experience enhancing payroll processes, controls, or automation Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to partner effectively with HR, Finance, managers, and employees About You Post-secondary training or TAFE certificate in HR, IR/ER, Education, Psychology, or Business (degree preferred). Strong knowledge of employment legislation, regulatory frameworks, and HR best practices. Strong work experience in major infrastructure, mining and or heavy industry. Proven experience in HR project work, delivering initiatives and leading outcomes. Experience managing a small HR team. Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment while maintaining compliance and high-quality outcomes.
