Job Description About the Opportunity The Workshops Manager oversees the day to day operations of the Sciences Electricial (EWS) and Mechancial Workshops (MWS), ensuring the efficient flow of work through the workshops. This role is responsible for leading and managing technical staff, monitoring job progress, and maintaining strong operational and financial performance. As the primary point of contact, the Workshops Manager liaises with both internal stakeholders and external clients to support and coordinate all workshop activities. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the EWS and MWS, including facilities, equipment, health and safety, and risk management. Manage the end‑to‑end customer request process, from enquiry and quoting through to scheduling, delivery, and issue resolution. Lead, mentor and develop technical staff across both workshops, identifying skills gaps and supporting training and development. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients, supporting research, learning, teaching, and commercial activities. Ensure effective prioritisation of work in line with workshop access policies and competing demands. Maintain operational financial control, contributing to budgeting, cost management, and efficiency improvements. Drive continuous improvement through the development of policies and operational change initiatives. About you The occupant of this position will hold postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and at least 5 years relevant experience in an Electronic, Mechanical, Mechatronics (or other relevant technical discipline) management role; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. Salary HEW 8 Salary – Base range - $117,579.27 - $132,273.33 17% super. Full package range - $137,567.74 - $154,759.79.
