Are you a CA/CPA-qualified accountant ready to make your mark in one of Australia's leading energy retailers? We're looking for a sharp Senior Accountant to join the Sydney-based Finance team on an immediate basis. This is a genuine opportunity to step into a high-impact finance role within a listed, fast-moving energy business. You'll work closely with the Financial Controller, own critical month-end and regulatory reporting functions and play a hands-on role in a team where your contribution is visible and valued. The Role Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll take ownership across financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and energy retail operations support - including AEMO settlements, wholesale market activity, and green certificate reconciliations. This isn't a back-office role. You'll be embedded in the operational rhythm of the business. What You'll Do Lead month-end and year-end close processes and prepare monthly management accounts Own balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances Support budgeting, forecasting, and statutory financial statements Ensure compliance with AER, AEMO, and other regulatory reporting requirements Prepare and lodge BAS and other statutory filings Support wholesale market settlements and AEMO prudential reconciliations Coordinate bank guarantee preparation and lodgement Review PPA and green certificate settlements (STC, LGC, ESC) Partner with audit preparation and support external auditor requests About You CA or CPA qualified with a relevant degree in Accounting or Finance Minimum 3-5 years' experience in management accounting, treasury, or finance operations Energy, utilities, or regulated industry exposure is a real advantage - but not essential Strong Excel and financial modelling capability Comfortable working at pace with competing deadlines A clear communicator who thrives in a collaborative environment Why This Role?
