Purpose Provide quality mechanical design and engineering capability for new capital equipment builds/jobs; and provide engineering and technical product support services to other business units as required. Key External Relationships Customers (end users, contractors and consultants/EPCM’s), fabricators/suppliers and contract Engineers & Draftspersons Roles Responsibilities Abide by all legislative obligations & Transmin policies and procedures Contribute to maintaining product standardisation across the range of Transmin engineered equipment and assist in the development of standard systems of work that maximise efficiency Maintain control over job related engineering and design costs Participate in product rationalisation and cost reduction activities Brief drafting resources and external engineering/design resources to achieve commercial and technical objectives Maintain effective client relationships, advising and interfacing with client representatives on design and risk management decisions Communicate continually with the Engineering Manager, other Mechanical Engineers and technical personnel to identify, communicate and manage design/technical risks & assumptions, as well as financial and commercial risks Communicate with and provide technical advice or training to Project Managers, Capital Sales Engineers, Estimators and tradespersons as required Perform various mechanical equipment engineering and design tasks at all job phases, from initial client enquiry/bid through to installation, commissioning and site support Assist Capital Sales in standard product selection and where required, in the development of high level/conceptual designs to support tenders and bids/proposals Ensure compliance with relevant Australian /International and Transmin standards across the entire engineering and design process Ensure mechanical equipment designs are appropriately reviewed, checked and approved Ensure risk assessments are conducted on new equipment/machine builds Consult on a technical basis, with product development teams in the development and innovation of existing and new standard engineered mechanical products, including specific research and development projects Provide engineering/design and product technical support to other business units as required, including; assisting in the preparation of technical documentation (eg manuals, lists and standards) during installation commissioning and handovers Attend site as require to provide and oversee product technical support as required Support the capital sales and customer relationship management functions by providing technical support, guidance and training where required.
