About the role We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Alpha Electrics and Water, based in Kingston, Tasmania. This full-time position plays a key role in the repair, maintenance and servicing of industrial pumps, electric motors and gearboxes for a wide range of commercial and industrial customers across Tasmania. Working within our workshop and on-site, you will be part of a supportive technical team focused on delivering high-quality workmanship, excellent customer service and safe work practices. What you'll be doing Diagnose, service and repair industrial pumps, electric motors, gearboxes and associated equipment Dismantle, inspect, recondition, reassemble, test and paint equipment to a high standard Assess repair jobs and determine appropriate repair or replacement solutions Use electrical and electronic testing equipment to trace and diagnose faults Read and interpret job cards, service documentation and technical specifications Complete all workshop documentation and reporting accurately and on time Assist with installations, commissioning and on-site service work as required Maintain workshop cleanliness and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers and team members Promote and uphold Alpha Electrics and Water’s strong safety culture and company values What we're looking for Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or similar relevant trade Experience working with industrial pumps, motors, gearboxes or hydraulic systems Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills Knowledge of motor and pump controls is highly regarded Ability to use testing and diagnostic equipment confidently Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Good communication and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Current Driver Licence essential Forklift Licence desirable What we offer At Alpha Electrics and Water, we are committed to providing a supportive and rewarding work environment for our employees.
