We are currently looking for a reliable and hands-on Cellar Man (Storeman/Yardie) to join our team here at Flinders Street Wharves. In this casual role (approx. 4 days per week), you will be responsible for keeping our back-of-house running smoothly across the venue's bars, cellar and storage areas. Role Overview The Storeman (Yardie) is a key operational role responsible for maintaining and managing stock levels across the FSW Main Venue, including the bars, cellar, dock and Level 1 storage areas. This position ensures taps remain connected, back-of-house supplies are fully stocked, and storerooms are clean, organised and compliant. The role requires sound forklift skills, attention to detail, and the flexibility to step into front-of-house bar duties during peak periods. It plays a critical part in supporting smooth service across Townsville's newest waterfront hospitality precinct. Key Responsibilities Monitor and maintain stock levels for beverages and related items, including connecting bar taps and replenishing back-of-house supplies to prevent stockouts during peaks (e.g. Cowboys games, tourism season, events). Receive and check all stock into the cellar, noting any variances or discrepancies. Operate forklift safely and efficiently to unload deliveries and organise the storeroom. Assist the Venue Manager and Assistant Venue Manager with re-ordering, supplier coordination, and regular stocktakes and audits. Perform monthly beer line cleaning and basic tap maintenance. Conduct basic equipment and venue checks across stores, bar and pontoon areas. Maintain accurate stock records and minimise waste through proper rotation and reporting. Ensure all storage areas comply with hygiene, food safety, and WHS standards. Restore the venue to its standard layout daily. Step in to support front-of-house bar service (e.g. preparing and serving drinks) during busy periods or staffing shortages. Collaborate with bar and kitchen teams on stock needs and contribute to broader venue operations as directed. Key Attributes Detail-oriented, proactive, and methodical with strong organisational skills. Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Physically fit and comfortable with lifting, unloading and ongoing physical tasks. Flexible with rostering across day, evening and weekend shifts. Practical problem-solver with a hands-on, can-do approach. Positive attitude with a customer-focused mindset when stepping onto the floor. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 1 year's experience in stores, inventory, or back-of-house roles in hospitality (bar or cellar experience highly regarded). Current forklift licence (high-risk work licence – LF class) essential. Sound knowledge of stock handling, food safety standards, and basic inventory practices. Ability to use POS and inventory systems with basic math and reporting skills. Current Australian work rights. Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate desirable (or willingness to obtain for occasional bar support). Availability to work across weekends, evenings, and event days during Townsville's tourism and sporting calendar.
