Principal / Senior Temporary Works Engineer – Infrastructure Melbourne | $120k–$150k Super We are representing a specialist engineering consultancy with a strong and growing presence in complex infrastructure and major building construction. With a significant forward pipeline of secured work, they are seeking a highly capable Temporary Works Engineer to step into a senior or principal-level role within their Melbourne team. This position offers the opportunity to take technical ownership of temporary works design on large-scale, construction-driven projects, while also contributing to the development and leadership of a growing team. The Role • Lead the design, verification, and delivery of temporary works systems across complex infrastructure and major building projects • Provide technical oversight on construction methodologies including excavation support, shoring, propping, formwork, falsework, and staged construction • Interface closely with contractors, site teams, and permanent works designers to ensure safe, efficient, and buildable solutions • Review and sign off on temporary works designs, calculations, and methodologies • Contribute to risk assessments, buildability reviews, and value engineering initiatives • Mentor and guide junior engineers, supporting capability growth within the team What We’re Looking For • Extensive experience in temporary works / construction engineering within infrastructure or large-scale building projects • Strong technical capability across a range of temporary works systems and construction methodologies • Proven ability to engage with contractors and drive practical, site-focused solutions • Experience reviewing, checking, or approving designs (RPEQ / CPEng or working towards advantageous) • Ambition to step into a leadership role with influence over both projects and team growth Why This Opportunity • Involvement in technically complex, large-scale construction projects • Opportunity to take on a lead / principal role with real technical ownership • Clear pathway to build and shape a team around you • Agile, growing consultancy environment with less bureaucracy than Tier 1 • Strong pipeline of long-term work across multiple sectors and locations This is a key hire and interviews are progressing quickly.
