About the Firm A progressive Australian accounting practice that has rebuilt its operating model around modern technology, automation and AI, freeing accountants from administrative drag so the focus can sit where it should, on substantive client work. The leadership group is commercially sharp, genuinely approachable and well credentialed, reflecting a newer generation of partners shaping the direction of the profession. The client base is deliberately curated for quality over volume, with a strong weighting toward larger private groups up to $30 million in turnover and more sophisticated entity structures. The firm does not operate as a year-end compliance shop. Engagement runs throughout the year, with clients supported across virtual CFO services, cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, Budgeting and longer-term strategic and succession planning. The intent is to function as an embedded outsourced finance partner, rather than a transactional accountant. Built on Xero Accounting Software, the practice runs structured systems and clearly defined workflows. The firm operates with an established in-office team of 20 staff, supported by 7 remote accountants working across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth. This is not a firm experimenting with remote work, it is a firm that has invested in the systems, communication rhythms and culture required to make it function properly across multiple locations. Quarterly team events and an annual firm-wide gathering form part of the rhythm, and where logistically possible, remote team members are flown in so the connection is built in person rather than only on screen. Training is taken seriously. Structured monthly sessions run for the broader team, director-led training works through real client scenarios for senior staff, and external trainers are brought in quarterly to support technical and commercial development. Combined with a structured onboarding program, the development pathway is intentional and well resourced. About the Role This is a fully remote Senior Accountant position, 100% work-from-home. A complete home office setup is provided, including dual monitors and ergonomic equipment, so the environment matches what you would expect in a professional office. The role is genuinely dynamic, blending Tax Compliance with virtual CFO work, cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, Budgeting and Management Reporting. You will support the management of a portfolio of clients, the majority of which sit at the larger end of the private group market with turnover up to $30 million, and operate across more complex group and entity structures. Key responsibilities include: Preparation of BAS and IAS, alongside income tax compliance across individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies, trusts and groups. Preparation of general and special purpose Financial Statements, with exposure to CGT, FBT and broader tax considerations. Supporting clients with cash flow forecasting, 3-way financial modelling, Budgeting and Management Reporting as part of ongoing engagement, with structured exposure to virtual CFO and advisory work as your capability develops. There is genuine scope to step into greater client ownership and more advanced advisory responsibility over time. About You The firm is looking for a Senior Accountant with a solid Business Services foundation and a real interest in developing into broader advisory work. To be considered, you will have: Full working rights and currently be based in Australia, with 5 years' experience within Australian Public Practice. CA or CPA completed, or currently working toward completion. Strong technical exposure across Business Services and Tax Compliance, including BAS, Financial Statements and income tax, with experience working across companies, trusts and group structures. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently and productively within a structured remote setting. Experience supporting larger and more complex clients will be highly regarded, although attitude and willingness to learn carry equal weight. This role will suit someone who values genuine flexibility while continuing to develop technically, commercially and strategically within a forward-looking advisory environment. Additional Opportunities Alongside this position, I am currently engaged on a number of assignments across the accounting and financial services sector. These include client services, operations, and accounting opportunities at both boutique firms and larger practices.
