Full-time Cook position available in Homebush West, NSW 2140. On behalf of Bridgethaw No. 2 Pty Limited (trading as Markets Hotel), a beloved venue in Homebush West, we are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our passionate kitchen team. The ideal candidate will possess strong practical cooking skills, excellent time management, and a genuine passion for preparing high-quality food with consistency and care. You will thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation, and work collaboratively with the team to ensure every guest enjoys exceptional food and service. Position Responsibilities and Tasks: Inspecting fresh produce, local oysters, seafood, meats, and other ingredients to ensure quality and freshness standards are met before preparation. Operating and regulating ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment to maintain consistent cooking temperatures and food quality. Preparing and cooking a variety of menu items including seasonal dishes, house-made curries, and children's meals. Seasoning and flavouring food during preparation and cooking to achieve consistent taste and presentation standards. Portioning and plating meals attractively, including adding sauces, gravies, garnishes, and side accompaniments before service. Storing seafood, meats, vegetables, and prepared food items in temperature-controlled facilities in accordance with food safety requirements. Preparing meals to accommodate customers with special dietary requirements, allergies, and food preferences when required. Assisting with planning seasonal menu items and estimating ingredient requirements to support daily kitchen operations and service demands. Training and supporting junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation techniques, kitchen procedures, and hygiene practices. Maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the kitchen while following workplace health, safety, and food hygiene regulations. Qualifications and Skills: Relevant qualifications; A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role; Ability to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation; Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
