Tell me about this role: Amentum is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner to support the sustainment of the Australian Border Force’s Evolved Cape Class Patrol Boat (ECCPB) fleet. This role is critical in translating complex engineering and sustainment data into a practical, achievable maintenance plan that reflects real-world operational demands. You will take ownership of developing the first Annual Maintenance Work Plan (AWP) for the fleet, ensuring maintenance activities are aligned to patrol schedules, resource availability, and operational priorities. Working closely with Defence, ABF and industry stakeholders, you will play a key role in ensuring fleet readiness through effective planning, coordination, and continuous refinement of maintenance strategies . What will I be doing day to day? Develop and maintain the Annual Maintenance Work Plan (AWP) for ECCPB vessels Align maintenance schedules with operational requirements, patrol cycles, and vessel availability Translate engineering data, OEM inputs, and ILS documentation into clear, actionable maintenance plans Ensure maintenance activities are practical, achievable, and resource-aligned Collaborate with logistics and inventory teams to ensure parts and materiel availability Adapt existing ADF sustainment models to suit ABF operational environments Engage with stakeholders across Defence, ABF , and industry to validate planning assumptions Continuously review and refine maintenance plans as operational or technical inputs Balance competing priorities such as time constraints, operational tempo, and resource limitations What sort of skills do I need? Experience in maintenance planning or sustainment engineering within Defence or maritime environments Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Marine, or related discipline) Strong ability to interpret engineering data, technical manuals, and ILS inputs Familiarity with ADF sustainment frameworks and maintenance support models (MSM) Stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across government and industry Experience with ECCPB, Austal vessels, or similar maritime programs (highly desirable) Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and evolving inputs Australian citizenship and a minimum NV1 security clearance What’s in it for me?
