Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association (AIDA) is looking for an experienced and exceptional Senior programs officer on a fulltime basis to join our Programs and Outcomes portfolio, reporting to the Programs Coordinator. AIDA is the national body representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors and medical students, focused on equitable health and life outcomes for Indigenous people. We do this by working towards reaching population parity of Indigenous medical students and doctors; and supporting a culturally safe healthcare system. The Programs and Outcomes portfolio leads the design, delivery and evaluation of AIDA’s funded programs and strategic initiatives including Specialist Trainee Support Program (STSP), Leaders in Indigenous Medical Education (LIME) and First Nations Experience Oncology Program (FNOEP. These national programs are delivered in partnership with medical colleges, universities, funders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Summary of the role: The Senior Programs Officer is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of defined program areas within AIDA’s Programs and Outcomes portfolio. The role exercises independence, judgement and accountability to ensure high-quality, culturally safe program delivery that meets funding, stakeholder and organisational expectations. To support effective program delivery in a small, high-performing team, the Senior Programs Officer will undertake a mix of delivery, stakeholder and coordination activities. Role and Responsibility 1. Program Delivery & Ownership Lead delivery of assigned program components (e.g. STSP, LIME, FNOEP workstreams) Managing programs or projects with end-to-end responsibility including ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing work priorities to deliver quality outcomes within short timeframes autonomously or in a team environment. 2. Stakeholder Engagement & Relationships Build and manage program-level relationships with stakeholders including colleges, universities, host sites and partners Communicate professionally and culturally safely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders 3. Contracts, Funding & Reporting Monitor delivery against funding agreements, contracts and deliverables Draft reports, briefings and presentations for internal and external audiences 4. Risk & Quality Management Identify, assess and manage program-level risks Propose mitigation strategies and escalate risks where required 5. Contribution to Program Improvement Contribute insights and recommendations to improve program design and delivery Identify opportunities for efficiencies, innovation and strengthened outcomes Essential Skills and Qualifications Proven experience of culturally safe practice and improving self-determination and health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. A sound understanding of current and historical issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. Proven stakeholder management skills, including the ability to build relationships, influence outcomes and work effectively with diverse stakeholders Demonstrated experience managing programs or projects with end-to-end responsibility including ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing work priorities to deliver quality outcomes within short timeframes and with minimal supervision. High level of both written and verbal communication capabilities across a wide range of stakeholders. Strong judgement, initiative and problem-solving skills to deliver outcomes in line with organisational priorities and policies. High-level attention to detail. Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly to fulfil individual and team performance goals. Understanding of program delivery within funded, compliance and risk management environments Desirable Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience using project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Planner Premium) to support program delivery and tracking. Knowledge of the medical education and training continuum. Culturally aware, inclusive in approach and consistently respectful in all interactions. Calm and highly organised, who has a structured yet flexible working style and is adept at reprioritising workflows to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
