Newton Dental & Implants, located in Newton, South Australia 5074, is seeking multiple reliable and patient-focused Dental Assistants to join our dental practice in Newton, South Australia. The successful applicants will support the delivery of dental care under the direction of dental practitioners and the supervision of the Practice Manager. These roles are for permanent full-time positions (76 hours per fortnight) and involve a combination of chairside assistance, patient care, infection control, treatment room preparation, dental instrument management, clinical record keeping and administrative support. Key Responsibilities: · Greeting patients and preparing them for scheduled dental procedures · Assisting dentists, hygienists and dental therapists during procedures and routine check-ups · Clearing the patient’s mouth of saliva and dental materials during treatment by operating suction or other appropriate dental equipment · Preparing treatment rooms as directed by the dental practitioner and ensuring the correct instruments, materials and equipment are available for use · Preparing, cleaning and sterilising dental instruments before and after treatment · Cleaning surgeries and treatment rooms in accordance with the practice’s infection control policies, including decontamination procedures · Processing, developing and filing patient X-rays where required · Operating digital imaging equipment where required · Providing patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions as directed by the dental practitioner · Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient treatments · When required, preparing accounts and collect payments in accordance with practice procedures · When required, undertake minimal/ simplistic reception duties, including scheduling follow up/ routine patient appointments Skills and Experience: · Holds a relevant qualification and at least 1 year of work experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinical support role. · Experience assisting dental practitioners during examinations, procedures and routine check-ups · Knowledge of dental instruments, treatment room preparation and infection control procedures · Ability to clean, sterilise and maintain dental instruments and clinical equipment · Strong communication and interpersonal skills · A patient-focused, caring and professional approach · Proven ability to be punctual, reliable and able to multitask · Strong time management and organisational skills · The ability to work effectively as part of a dental team. Candidates will have strong attention to detail, a commitment to infection control, and the ability to build rapport with patients while supporting high-quality dental care. Candidates will also be expected to communicate effectively with the dental team, maintain accurate clinical records, assist with practice administration when required, and contribute to a positive and efficient practice environment.
