We’re looking for a skilled Industrial Electrician to support the operation and maintenance of Council’s sewage treatment plants, pumping stations and reticulation assets across the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area. In this role, you’ll apply your industrial electrical expertise to ensure critical infrastructure operates safely, meets environmental and legislative requirements, and continues to deliver essential services to our community. You’ll also contribute to the operation and improvement of plant automation systems, including PLC, SCADA and telemetry. Remuneration of $3,087.34 gross per fortnight with the opportunity to progress to $3,704.81 gross per fortnight superannuation (12%). Access to Council’s Nine (9) Day Fortnight Arrangement. Your new role : Key responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: You will play a key role in maintaining and improving Council’s wastewater and stormwater electrical assets, including: Performing industrial electrical installation, inspection, testing and maintenance across sewerage and stormwater networks. Diagnosing and rectifying faults on motors, pumps, instrumentation, control panels, MCCs and associated infrastructure. Completing preventative maintenance activities in line with maintenance management systems and Facilities Operating Plans. Undertaking isolations and issuing permits in accordance with Council procedures and WHS requirements. Assisting contractors and specialist service providers undertaking electrical, instrumentation or automation works. Supporting continuous improvement of electrical assets, reliability programs and maintenance practices. Monitoring and providing basic troubleshooting for PLC, SCADA and telemetry systems. Supporting the maintenance and reliability of instrumentation and control systems used in plant operations. Liaising with SCADA integrators, contractors and internal teams regarding faults, upgrades and automation improvements. Assisting with commissioning of electrical and control equipment for capital projects and asset replacements. You will also contribute to the operation of sewage treatment plants by: Assisting with day‑to‑day plant operations to ensure compliance with Environmental Protection Licences and best practice standards. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Council’s Facilities Operating Plan. Participating in the on‑call roster as required. Undertaking training in sewage treatment plant operation and maintenance. Assisting with asset registers, maintenance programs and project activities within the Wastewater and Stormwater Team. As the successful applicant, you will have the following : Essential : Qualified Supervisor Certificate. Qualifications relevant to the role i.e., Minimum Certificate III in Electrotechnology – Electrician. Class C Driver Licence. General Construction Induction (White Card). Experience in industrial electrical installation, fault finding and maintenance. Strong knowledge of electrical systems for pumps, motors, control panels and instrumentation. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Supervisory experience is desirable. Desirable : Confined Spaces Certificate. Current First Aid Certificate. Experience in wastewater, industrial or process environments. Exposure to PLC and SCADA systems for monitoring and fault finding.
