Platform Operations Engineer (Cloud / AWS) Canberra, ACT or Melbourne, VIC (Hybrid) 12 months Contract with 2 *12 months extensions Must have an active Baseline security clearence About the Opportunity We're seeking an experienced Platform Operations Engineer (Cloud Engineer) to join a high-performing operations team supporting a suite of critical, client-facing digital platforms .This role sits within a large-scale technology environment delivering secure, high-availability digital services . You'll play a key part in ensuring platforms remain resilient, scalable, and operationally excellent , while contributing to the evolution toward real-time and event-driven capabilities . Key Responsibilities Operate and manage applications and infrastructure hosted on AWS Cloud. Undertake regular and ad-hoc operational activities such as health checks, certificate renewals and scheduled maintenance tasks such OS and software patching and upgrades. Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve high severity incidents in a 24 x 7 live production and external vendor testing environments, preventing or minimising downtime and adverse impacts to external clients and users. Undertake regular and ad-hoc operational activities such as health checks, certificate renewals and scheduled maintenance tasks such OS and software patching and upgrades. Proactively address operational irritants by performing root cause analysis and drive permanent fixes for recurring issues with delivery teams. implement and maintain monitoring, logging and alerting to ensure high availability, performance and reliability of our systems to meet target volumes and application metrics. Assist in governance and audit activities and compile operational and data driven reports for business and technical stakeholders. Key Technical Skill Required: Experience in AWS cloud and technologies including EC2, CloudWatch, Lambda and S3. Extensive technical skills in midrange applications and architecture and experience in database, network, and security technologies. Infrastructure administration experience in Windows and Linux (RedHat Enterprise preferred) Operating Systems. Experience in scripting (using languages like Python, AWS CLI, Bash or PowerShell) for day-to-day management and automation tasks. Experience or familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g. Splunk), ITSM workflow and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, and Azure DevOps to manage and track work, bugs, issues and risks.
