About the role Mater Private Hospital Townsville is inviting expressions of interest from experienced internal Registered Nurses who are ready to take the next step in their career by transitioning into a Clinical Nurse role within our Emergency Department . This opportunity is to cover an extended period of leave and will be offered as a fixed-term, part-time contract (0.8 FTE) , commencing June 2026 until January 2027 . The successful applicant will be required to work across a rotating 24/7 roster . Our state-of-the-art Emergency Department operates from 6:30am to 11pm, seven days a week, providing top-notch medical care to both adult and paediatric patients. Our team of experienced emergency specialists work tirelessly to ensure the best possible outcomes for every individual who walks through our doors. Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 access to many staff benefits! What you’ll be doing We are seeking dynamic and adaptable Clinical Nurses who will be motivated by a challenging and fast paced environment. Key responsibilities and duties include: Be a role-model in all aspects of leadership and promote a positive team culture within the unit Leadership and coordination of the emergency department Demonstrate professionalism at all times Provision and coordination of care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care Monitoring outcomes and initiating/advocating changes to processes and practices Participating in the review, development and implementation of relevant policies, procedures and clinical protocols Participates and promotes clinical meetings in a multidisciplinary setting About you To be successful in your application you will have: Current AHPRA registration as a Nurse (no restrictions) Minimum of 3 years post grad experience working in an ED setting Relevant post-graduate qualifications and/or clinical experience in relevant fields of nursing will be highly regarded. Leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and mentor staff Demonstrated advanced interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate management and workloads Strong knowledge of continuous improvement process, coupled with the proven ability to initiate, coordinate and evaluate quality improvement measures Demonstrated knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety, Infection Control and Clinical Risk policies are also of value.
