Who is Local? Local is a Melbourne-born business that focuses on creating and managing communities built entirely for renters. We believe in using our homes to create positive change by making renting convenient, attainable, sustainable and secure. Our buildings are embedded and intertwined in their unique neighbourhoods to make everyone who lives with us feel like a Local. We have over 2,950 apartments under management and construction across Australia's eastern seaboard. Role Overview: You’ll be the go-to person for general upkeep and day-to-day maintenance across our building. Your work will help ensure our residents feel supported and at home. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out general repairs, including patching, painting, basic carpentry and light plumbing. Completing routine inspections and ensuring our facilities run safely and smoothly. Managing on-site services such as waste management, deliveries, and equipment. Supporting resident relocations and responding to maintenance requests. Identifying issues early and taking proactive steps to resolve them. Who We're Looking For: We’re looking for a hands-on, reliable team member who takes pride in their work. You’ll be successful in this role if you have: Broad practical maintenance skills (painting, patching, basic carpentry/plumbing, minor grounds work). A strong focus on safety and attention to detail. A friendly, customer-service mindset when interacting with residents. The ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and think on your feet. Physical capability for manual tasks such as moving furniture and handling bins. Basic ability to use a smartphone and computer programs such as Outlook and Word. Why join Local Residential? For us, this is more than just a job; it’s something we genuinely care about. What we’re building takes curiosity, energy and a willingness to challenge the norm. We’ve created a culture where people are encouraged to speak up, think differently and keep pushing for better because “that’ll do” isn’t really our thing. We’re not all work and no play, though. We love rewarding our people for the work that they do, and we’re big believers in having FUN. We’re big on growth, from courses and conferences to leadership development; we’ll support you to learn, develop and thrive. We also know the importance of switching off, with 7 additional Fridays off throughout the year to switch off and focus on themselves, their loved ones and their wellbeing and additional time to give back through community impact days. From day one, merch to “sips and chips,” team lunches and regular social events, we make sure there’s plenty of fun along the way. Our EAP is available to all team members and their immediate family, providing confidential support whenever it’s needed. Whether it’s personal, professional or somewhere in between, we’ve got you covered
