About Carers SA Carers SA is the peak body for Carers in South Australia, advocating for greater recognition and improved support. We provide services and support for Carers of all ages and is the Statewide lead Carer Gateway provider. About the Role This is a diverse and rewarding role supporting Young Carers aged 5–26 across the Southern Fleurieu/Kangaroo Island region. You will provide outreach support to Young Carers and their families across this region. The role focuses on identifying and supporting Young Carers through psychosocial assessment, advocacy and strength-based support. Through in-person outreach, phone support and community engagement, you will help Young Carers build confidence, develop skills, strengthen resilience and stay connected to their community. We are looking for someone motivated to facilitate Carer Star™ assessments and action planning, provide individualised 1:1 support, and coordinate group activities and events that support the wellbeing and development of Young Carers. Working within the family context, you will help ensure positive outcomes for Young Carers and connect them to appropriate services and supports. This role offers flexibility to work from home and in the community while being part of a collaborative team located across metropolitan and regional South Australia. Key Responsibilities (not limited to): Conduct Young Carer intakes, registrations and assessments using Carer Star™ and other assessment tools Develop action plans and provide strength-based support aligned with each Young Carer’s goals and needs Provide individual and group-based support for Young Carers aged 5–26 Advocate for Young Carers and support them to access services, supports and programs Build relationships with schools, youth services, community organisations and referral partners Facilitate activities, events and group sessions for Young Carers Maintain accurate case notes and records in line with service guidelines Work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to coordinate supports Contribute to outreach and awareness activities that identify and connect with Young Carers in the region About You You are a compassionate and motivated professional who enjoys working with children and young people and supporting them to overcome challenges. You will also have: Experience working with children and young people in community, youth or family support services Ability to build rapport and engage with young people aged 5–26 Strong communication and relationship-building skills An understanding of the challenges facing Young Carers and their families Experience in assessment, goal setting and case management Ability to work independently in a regional setting while contributing to a broader team A current driver’s licence, DHS Working with Children Check, and National Police Check It’s great if you also have: Experience working with Young Carers or families with caring responsibilities Knowledge of local services across the Southern Fleurieu/Kangaroo Island Experience working with culturally diverse communities Qualifications in Youth Work, Social Work or Community Services Why Join Us?
