About the Opportunity The role of the SETS Homework Hut Facilitator is to supervise and support MSC volunteer tutors to provide one-on-one and group academic support in subjects such as English, Math, Science, Humanities, Art etc. to young people aged 12 to 24 years from migrant, refugee or humanitarian backgrounds on a weekly basis during school terms. This is a Casual position. Supervise, support and train Homework Hut volunteer tutors who will provide individual and group based academic support (written and computer based) on a weekly basis during school terms at various locations (including and not limited to North Lake Snr High School and Mirrabooka MSC office). Liaises with parents and carers of young people to ensure their full understanding of the Homework Hut activities and programs their children are participating in and that appropriate permissions have been gained. Prepare reports which meet the requirements of the funding body as well as MSC and maintain accurate and up-to-date records relating to homework hut clients Ensure support and compliance provided is in accordance with funding guidelines Actively participate and contribute to continuous improvement processes for Homework Hut. Safely open office facilities at two MSC locations and prepare for homework hut session. Upon completion of session, pack down and securely lock Mirrabooka office. Other Undertake identified training that would benefit role and/or funding body. Undertake other duties as directed by the SETS Youth Programs Officer, SETS Team Lead and Manager, Deputy Manager and/or the Chief Executive Officer. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential Criteria: · Tertiary qualifications in education and teaching experience with young high school aged people. Experience working with young people and children from refugee and/or CaLD backgrounds High degree of cultural competence and an understanding of the refugee experience Proven track record in developing and organising successful programs, events and activities for young CaLD people. Excellent networking and liaison skills and the ability to work cooperatively with other stakeholders. Self-starter with strong program management skills including timely reporting and accurate data entry and collection skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills Good knowledge of the multicultural and community service sector Ability to work effectively in a small team environment Commitment to providing quality customer services WA motor vehicle driving license and access to a suitable vehicle. Desirable:· Fluency in a language other than English such as Arabic, Farsi, Burmese, Spanish highly regarded.
