About the Team: The Safer Community function sits within the Student Complaints and Integrity Office and provides specialist expertise in behavioural risk triage, disclosure response and early intervention. The team works closely with the Integrity Office, Counselling and Wellbeing, Security, People & Culture, Legal Services and Colleges to ensure consistent, trauma-informed and proportionate responses to safety concerns across the University. About the Role: The Safer Community Advisor plays a critical role in receiving and responding to disclosures of inappropriate, concerning or threatening behaviour. You will apply trauma-informed practice, structured risk assessment and sound judgement to determine appropriate pathways, including referral to misconduct processes, wellbeing services or external agencies. The role contributes to the development of Safer Community frameworks, supports institutional decision-making, and plays a key part in ensuring safe, consistent and procedurally fair responses across the University. Position Key Duties: Respond to disclosures and safety concerns using trauma-informed practice. Undertake structured risk assessments and determine appropriate escalation pathways. Provide guidance and support to individuals, outlining options and next steps. Develop and implement safety and risk management plans. Refer matters to misconduct processes, wellbeing services or external agencies. Provide expert advice to staff and stakeholders on behavioural risk and safety matters. Maintain accurate and compliant case records. Contribute to policy, framework and process improvement initiatives. Analyse trends and contribute to reporting. Strong understanding and application of trauma-informed practice, including responding to gender-based violence and behavioural risk. Ability to exercise sound judgement and make decisions in complex or ambiguous situations. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage sensitively with diverse stakeholders. Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and respond to urgent matters. A collaborative approach with a strong commitment to safety, equity and procedural fairness.
