19th May, 2026 Indigeco is recruiting a Transcription Officer for our Commonwealth Government client in Melbourne. This is a 3-month contract with the possibility of a 12-month extension. Reporting to the Transcript and Recording Coordinator, this role will support the accurate and timely production of transcripts from audio, video and live recordings, while maintaining quality, confidentiality and records management standards. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Produce accurate and timely transcripts of proceedings from audio, video and live recordings Review, proofread and edit transcripts to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with required standards Apply judgement to resolve routine transcription issues and escalate more complex matters where required Manage, catalogue and store recordings and transcripts in line with records management, security and policy requirements Support the team to meet publication timeframes, service standards and operational priorities Identify recurring issues or quality trends that may impact accuracy, efficiency or service delivery Work collaboratively with team members and adapt to changing workloads, systems and priorities YOUR REQUIREMENTS Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent spelling, grammar and comprehension Minimum typing speed of 70 words per minute with strong accuracy Proficiency in Microsoft Word and confidence using digital tools and transcription systems Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet competing deadlines Ability to work collaboratively in a team and contribute to process improvement Prior experience in audio transcription, dictation, legal administration, court services or tribunal environments will be highly regarded Australian citizenship and ability to satisfy a Police Records Check YOUR PERKS Pay rate of $40 to $50 per hour super, based on experience 3-month contract with possible 12-month extension Gain experience in a Commonwealth Government legal services environment Meaningful role supporting accurate court and tribunal transcription services HOW TO APPLY If you have strong typing accuracy, excellent written communication skills and experience in transcription, administration or legal support, we would love to hear from you!
