Hi there! We’re Five Good Friends. We’re an approved aged care and NDIS service provider helping our Members (others call them clients) live vibrantly in their own homes. We wrap a care team around them and their families, supported by innovative software that coordinates in the background—so our teams can focus on what matters most: delivering exceptional care. We’re proud to be a place where purpose meets impact. Every day, our work contributes to helping people live their best lives, and that starts with our people. As more people choose Five Good Friends, we’re building out our Platform team to strengthen the foundations that power our technology and services. That’s where you come in. About the Role We’re looking for an AI-first Full Stack Software Engineer to build the systems that support how we deliver care at scale. You’ll work across frontend and backend, creating reliable, maintainable solutions that connect real-world care experiences with the technology behind them. You’ll contribute across everything from user-facing features to platform capabilities. You’ll be part of a hands-on, genuinely collaborative team of engineers, system thinkers and innovators. Think getting around a whiteboard together, unpacking problems, challenging ideas, and designing solutions as a group. The work is substantive; the problems are challenging; and expectations on the whole Platform team to continue delivering are high. This is a hybrid role, balancing in-office collaboration with focused work from home. When you’re in, you’ll be based in our modern South Bank office, close to great cafes and restaurants, with easy access to public transport. What You’ll Be Doing Designing and building scalable, high-quality full stack applications — with AI-assisted tooling (GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) as a natural part of your development workflow Developing intuitive, responsive front-end experiences Building robust backend services, APIs, and integrations — including services that connect to and support agentic and AI-driven workflows Collaborating closely with engineers, product, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Contributing to system design, architecture, and technical decision-making Writing clean, well-tested and secure code with AI copilot development tools as a genuine part of how you build — and continuously raising the bar on engineering quality About You You enjoy building end-to-end solutions and care about creating systems that are both functional and well designed. You’re collaborative, take ownership, and bring clarity to complex problems. AI is already part of how you work — not something you’re curious about eventually, but something you reach for every day. You’ll bring: Hands-on experience with Node.js and TypeScript on the backend, and React (Vite) on the frontend Strong fundamentals in software design and problem-solving Experience building APIs and working with distributed systems, deployed into Azure and AWS Comfortable with Docker for local development and containerised workflows A testing mindset — writing unit tests with Jest and end-to-end tests with Playwright Familiar with GitHub for source control, branching strategies, and collaborative PR reviews Confidence working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders You’re also energised by AI—actively using AI-assisted tools or working with AI/ML concepts, and excited by how data platforms enable intelligent systems. Bonus points for experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, cloud platforms, or product-led environments. What’s in It for You You’ll help build something from the ground up, shaping how our technology supports better care and stronger connections for our members. You’ll be part of a team that values simplicity, ownership, and real impact, with the opportunity to do meaningful work and see the difference it makes. And a few more things we think you’ll value: Competitive salary package that recognises your skills and experience Flexible hybrid work arrangements to support focus and collaboration Annual $500 health and wellbeing allowance Additional annual leave accrual after your second year and the option to purchase extra leave Free confidential counselling through Sonder Parental leave top-ups for eligible caregivers, including superannuation support Extend our care to a loved one at a special rate A workplace with an employee engagement score 17% above industry average And after 5 years of continuous service—a trip to Okinawa, Japan, the community that inspired Five Good Friends How to Apply If this role sounds like you, click the apply button and follow the prompts.
