Toorak College is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our friendly and dynamic Catering Department. Role & Responsibilities: Working under the direction of the Catering Manager and Canteen Manager, the Catering Assistant will support the Catering team in the delivery of food services within our School canteen for our students (including boarder's) and staff. This role is vital in helping to ensure smooth and efficient food service both within the School canteen and various other food services areas within the School, including our on-site Boarding House. Tasks may include: Assist with basic food prep and kitchen hand duties. Assist with filling lunch orders and managing food stocks. Providing efficient and timely front of house retail food service. Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained in the kitchen and serving areas. Participate in training sessions to enhance hospitality skills and knowledge. Follow health and safety regulation to ensure a safe working environment for all staff and customers. This is a permanent part-time position of approximately two (2) days per week, Thursday and Friday during term time only. There is the potential to also work extra hours for events and functions when needed or to cover absences within the team. About You: The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, be customer oriented, organised and will have: Previous experience in a hospitality, catering, or commercial kitchen environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, use initiative to achieve results with a customer service focus. Possess a high level of physical fitness sufficient to meet the demands of the role, you will be on your feet constantly. A valid Working with Children Check (Employer), or willingness to obtain.
