About the role We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Principal Engineer to lead the technical design, development and delivery of cloud-native enterprise platforms and application through direct, hand-on contribution. This is an IC-level role that would need a seasonal technical leader, active in writing, reviewing, and debugging production code alongside the rest of the engineering team. High standards for code quality, solid working knowledge of architecture and design principles would be required to be successful in this role. You will proactively participate in setting engineering direction, influencing architecture, uplifting development practices and mentoring fellow engineers across the business. Working across both on premises and cloud hosted environments, you will play a key role in modernising our platforms, strengthening engineering standards and ensuring our systems remain secure, scalable and highly available. What you’ll do Lead the technical design and delivery of modern cloud-native applications Define architectural direction and ensure solutions are secure, scalable and maintainable Drive modernisation of legacy on premises systems and cloud hosted services Provide senior technical leadership across engineering teams through mentoring and coaching Establish and uplift engineering standards, coding practices and quality benchmarks Conduct in depth design, code, performance and security reviews What you’ll bring You will bring deep technical expertise in .NET or Node.JS, alongside strong experience building and supporting enterprise grade applications. You would have solid commercial experience building and operating production-grade, distributed systems, combined with deep understanding of cloud architecture concepts across compute, networking, identity, data, security, and resilience. You need to have practical experience with serverless and event-driven architectures and demonstrated ability to design effective data persistence solutions (SQL and NoSQL), including data partitioning and key strategies.
