Position: Bar Attendant Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $70,000 to $75,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Port Douglas QLD 4877 Our client Melaleuca is an established restaurant located in Port Douglas, Far North Queensland, delivering a premium dining experience supported by a curated beverage offering. The venue focuses on high quality service, consistency, and presentation, with an emphasis on seasonal beverages, cocktails, wines, and spirits that complement the food offering. As a Bar Attendant you will be responsible for providing professional beverage service, preparing drinks to venue standards, supporting bar operations, and contributing to a positive guest experience during daily service and special events. Key Duties and Responsibilities: ·Prepare, serve, and present alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, wines, spirits, beers, specialty drinks, and coffee-based beverages in accordance with venue standards. ·Provide high‑quality customer service by engaging with patrons, responding to requests promptly, and ensuring a positive dining and bar experience. ·Operate point‑of‑sale (POS) systems for drink orders, payments, and reconciliation in an accurate and professional manner. ·Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, including equipment, glassware, storage areas, and work surfaces. ·Monitor stock levels, assist with stock rotation, and support ordering of beverages and bar supplies as required. ·Comply with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements, workplace health and safety standards, and relevant licensing regulations. ·Collaborate with management, floor staff, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service operations during busy periods. ·Assist with training and supporting junior bar staff, where required, to maintain service consistency and quality. ·Ensure correct handling and storage of beverages in line with food safety and hygiene standards. ·Selecting and grinding coffee beans, and preparing coffee beverages using espresso machines in accordance with standard operating procedures. Requirements: ·AQF Certificate II or III (or overseas equivalent) in relevant field ·At least one (1) year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed ·Demonstrated experience working as a Bar Attendant or Bartender in hospitality venues, including restaurants, bars, or hotels. ·At least one year of full time (or equivalent part time) relevant work experience in bar or beverage service roles. ·Extensive practical experience across multiple hospitality environments may substitute for formal qualifications. ·Sound knowledge of cocktail and coffee-based drink preparation, beverage presentation, and service techniques. ·Experience with stock handling, bar setup, and maintaining service efficiency during busy periods. ·Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast paced service environment. ·Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification or ability to obtain. ·On the job training may be required to meet venue specific systems, menus, and service procedures.
