About this role: The Head of Boarding Houses is responsible for the operational, administrative and strategic management of the College’s boarding facilities. This role oversees the coordination of boarding personnel and works closely with the Pastoral Care and Wellbeing team to provide a safe, supportive and nurturing residential environment for students. The role contributes significantly to students’ emotional wellbeing, academic progress, personal development, and social and spiritual growth. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational oversight, compliance management, student wellbeing support, and regular after-hours availability. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate all aspects of boarding house operations including student supervision, daily routines, program schedules, duty rosters, staff responsibilities, appraisals, training, tutorials, maintenance, excursions, events, student activities and student leave. Collaborate with the Pastoral Care and Wellbeing team to ensure boarding programs align with College policies, procedures and wellbeing frameworks. Develop and foster a strong boarding community where student safety, wellbeing and belonging are prioritised. Develop and implement strategies to improve boarding enrolments and enhance the student boarding experience. Organise extracurricular activities and programs that support student engagement and personal development. Establish and maintain disciplinary frameworks in line with the College’s philosophy, policies and student wellbeing practices. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student wellbeing, academic progress, behaviour and specific incidents where required. Oversee enrolment processes, sign in/sign out systems, student leave approvals, visitor management and boarding compliance records. Develop and maintain boarding-related policies and documentation including student handbooks, staff handbooks and boarding agreements. Ensure boarding facilities are safe, secure, clean and well maintained, including oversight of maintenance requests and building access controls. Support staff in first aid, medication administration, incident reporting and student welfare management. Respond to urgent student wellbeing concerns and liaise with emergency services or relevant authorities when required. Conduct regular staff meetings, student meetings and orientation sessions for residents. More information on the job tasks and responsibilities can be found in the Job Description attached. Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications: Relevant qualification such as a Diploma in Business or Education. A minimum of two years relevant experience. Working With Children Check (WWCC) or VIT registration. Ability to provide dynamic and proactive leadership in a boarding house environment. Demonstrated commitment to youth wellbeing and an understanding of the needs of students living and studying away from home. Apply the principles of equality, diversity and inclusivity.
