About the Role As a Personal Assistant, you will provide quality administrative and legal support to a multi-disciplinary group of solicitors. You will interact daily with lawyers, claims managers, medical advisors, witnesses, experts, courts and tribunals to support Avant Law in delivering a comprehensive and superior service to members. We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented, with the drive and determination to deliver consistently high-quality work in a fast-paced legal environment. This is a 12 month contract based in Sydney, with the opportunity for a permanent role. Key responsibilities: • Provide quality administrative and legal support to a multi-disciplinary group of solicitors across medical indemnity matters, with a strong focus on civil litigation. • Prepare legal documentation including briefs to counsel and experts, subpoenas, chronologies, and court documents, draft correspondence, liaise with witnesses, experts, courts and tribunals. • Manage solicitor diaries, incoming and outgoing correspondence, filing, and phone queries. • Process accounts payable invoices, monthly billings, and settlement cheque requisitions. • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, claims managers, medical advisers, and external legal contacts. To be successful: • Completion of at least one year of a law degree (or equivalent) • Minimum one year's experience as a legal secretary or paralegal • Proven legal research capability • Typing speed of 45 wpm or above • Strong legal knowledge and research ability • Excellent written and verbal communication • Intermediate Word, Excel & Outlook proficiency • Outstanding attention to detail and excellent time management About Avant Avant is Australia’s largest medical defence organisation.
