Job Description We are seeking a skilled and motivated Cook to join our team at Sushi Bar Caboolture. This role involves the preparation and cooking of a wide range of Japanese and Asian fusion dishes in accordance with traditional recipes and company quality standards. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, efficient, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene, and presentation in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Tasks and Duties ·Preparing, seasoning and cooking a range of Japanese and Asian fusion dishes including sushi, sashimi, tempura, donburi, bento, grilled items, rice dishes and noodle-based meals ·Following standard recipes, portion controls and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency in taste, quality and appearance ·Examining foodstuffs and ingredients to ensure freshness, quality and compliance with food safety standards ·Assisting in planning and preparing daily and seasonal menu items using fresh and locally sourced ingredients where possible ·Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, steamers and other cooking equipment to ensure proper cooking conditions ·Portioning, plating and garnishing food items to maintain presentation standards and customer expectations ·Checking the quality of dishes during preparation and service to ensure consistency and compliance with company standards ·Storing, labelling and rotating food items in temperature-controlled storage areas in accordance with food safety procedures ·Assisting with stock control, checking deliveries, monitoring inventory levels and reporting ordering requirements to management or Head Chef ·Minimising food wastage through proper portioning, storage practices and efficient kitchen operations ·Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen environment in compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations ·Ensuring all kitchen equipment is correctly used, cleaned and maintained, and reporting faults or repair needs where necessary ·Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth and efficient service during peak periods ·Assisting in training and mentoring junior kitchen staff and kitchen hands in food preparation and safe food handling practices ·Accommodating customer dietary requirements and allergy requests while maintaining dish integrity and quality standards ·Following workplace health and safety procedures, food hygiene regulations, HACCP principles and relevant food handling legislation ·Supporting daily kitchen operations including preparation, cooking, service and closing procedures Skill Requirements ·Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality Management. ·Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cook, ideally within a Japanese or Asian cuisine environment. ·Sound knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients and food preparation techniques. ·Good understanding of food safety, kitchen hygiene and safe food handling practices. ·Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team. ·Good communication skills and a positive attitude toward customer service and teamwork.
