The role purpose also includes the following: - Collaborate, design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment/ reporting requirements and implications of sensory loss - Design and implement teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds. - Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support students with sensory loss in meaningful learning experiences - Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environment and ensure students’ wellbeing and safety within school by implementing school and/ or system, curriculum and legislative requirements Teacher of the Deaf - Macquarie Park Make a real difference working within our Education team as a Teacher of the Deaf and make a meaningful difference in the lives of people with vision and hearing loss. This is a Permanent Full-Time opportunity in our Sign Bilingual Program K-6 Primary School reporting directly to the Head of School and will work onsite at our NextSense School at Macquarie Park. About You: Relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification with a preference of a Master of Disability Studies - Deaf and Hard of Hearing or a willingness to undertake future studies in a Master of Sensory Disability Education (Provided and paid by NextSense and Macquarie University) Required native/near native Auslan signer, Interpreter level or fluent in Auslan Excellent written and verbal/signer communication skills, including the capacity to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy Excellent teaching practice Experience in the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
