About the Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team. The successful applicant will assist with the installation, testing, maintenance, and fault finding of electrical systems, equipment, and controls across residential projects. This role involves supporting engineers, electricians and tradespeople by preparing technical drawings, carrying out inspections, testing electrical equipment, and assisting with the installation and commissioning of electrical systems. You will be expected to work accurately, safely, and in accordance with project requirements, standards, and procedures. Key responsibilities Assist in the design, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment. Prepare, interpret, and update technical drawings, schematics, and documentation. Carry out inspections, measurements, and testing of electrical components and systems. Support fault finding, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance activities. Assist with commissioning and handover of electrical installations. Record test results, maintenance actions, and technical observations. Liaise with supervisors, electricians, and other trades. Follow workplace health and safety requirements and electrical safety procedures. Ensure work is completed in line with specifications, standards, and project deadlines. Skills and experience required Proven experience as an electrical engineering technician or in a similar technical role. Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications. Strong troubleshooting, testing, and problem-solving skills. Good understanding of electrical systems, tools, and equipment. Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential requirements Relevant qualification in electrical engineering or a related discipline preferred. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Strong technical and fault-finding skills. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. Current White Card or site access requirements, if applicable. Full working rights in Australia. Driver’s licence preferred. Desirable Experience in residential, commercial, or industrial electrical systems. Knowledge of testing, commissioning, and maintenance procedures. Experience working alongside electricians and engineers. Familiarity with Australian electrical standards and safety requirements.
