Casual academic staff are employed to perform specified teaching-related duties, such as, presenting lectures and tutorials, conducting practical classes or workshops, and marking, under the Agreement. The casual rates for academic teaching duties include both the presentation or delivery time and the associated working time (including preparation, reasonably contemporaneous marking and student consultation). This role contributes to tutorials, workshops, assessment, marking, and student consultation in key discipline areas including Financial Information Systems, Sustainability, Financial Accounting, and Management Accounting , as well as broader topics in governance, regulation, and ethical practice. The position requires strong subject‑matter expertise, the ability to communicate complex accounting and regulatory concepts clearly, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Casual Academics are expected to uphold academic standards, comply with university policies and procedures, and work collaboratively with course convenors and teaching teams to support student learning and academic success. Position Requirements To meet TEQSA and the University requirements, applicants must hold a qualification at least one AQF level higher than the level of study being taught (AQF1), or demonstrate equivalent academic, professional, or practice‑based experience. For undergraduate teaching, applicants are required to hold a minimum of a master’s degree in accounting or a closely related discipline or possess substantial and relevant industry experience that demonstrates equivalent expertise. For postgraduate teaching, applicants are required to hold a completed PhD in Accounting or a closely related discipline, in accordance with University practice for postgraduate‑level teaching. Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following areas: Financial Information Systems, Sustainability, Financial Accounting, and/or Management Accounting. Evidence of the capability to deliver high‑quality teaching and assessment, or relevant professional experience that supports effective student learning outcomes. Ability to work collaboratively with unit coordinators and teaching teams and to comply with university policies, academic standards, and the University of Sydney Enterprise Agreement.
