Commencing ASAP for 4 months 3 days on campus and 2 days working from home Balance sheet reconciliation clean-up, analysis and process improvement About the Role We are seeking a Financial Accountant to support a finance team during a peak workload period, with a strong focus on balance sheet reconciliations, clean-up activity and process improvement. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with complex financial data, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring reconciliations are accurate, well supported and audit ready. You will play a key role in reviewing and overhauling existing balance sheet reconciliations, improving consistency, and strengthening supporting documentation and controls. This is a hands-on role where you will be expected to quickly step in, work independently, and add value from day one. Responsibilities Review, clean up and improve a high volume of balance sheet reconciliations Analyse financial data and ensure accuracy of underlying records Investigate discrepancies and follow up outstanding items, including unpaid balances Gather and maintain appropriate supporting evidence for reconciliations Prepare journals, accruals and assist with month end processes Support financial reporting and variance analysis Maintain general ledger integrity and data accuracy Assist with audit preparation ahead of year end requirements Contribute to improving reconciliation processes and ways of working Work collaboratively with a team of approximately 10, including 4 focused on balance sheet reconciliation clean up About You Qualified Accountant (CA or CPA preferred or near completion) Strong experience in financial accounting and balance sheet reconciliations Confident working with journals, reconciliations and financial reporting Strong analytical skills with the ability to interrogate data and resolve issues Experience improving or standardising processes highly regarded Advanced Excel skills and exposure to financial systems (CIA experience desirable but not essential) Strong communication skills with a proactive and solutions focused approach Comfortable working autonomously in a fast paced environment About the Organisation A well-established education and training organisation with a strong focus on community impact, continuous improvement and delivering high quality outcomes.
