TradeConnex is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support solar energy projects across Sydney, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, safety and technical delivery. This is a full-time opportunity suited to an engineer who understands electrical systems, enjoys solving technical challenges and can work confidently with project managers, installers, subcontractors, clients and network stakeholders. You'll be involved across the supply, installation, commissioning and performance of electrical equipment used in solar installations, helping ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification. About the role As an Electrical Engineer, you will support the design, coordination and commissioning of electrical systems for solar energy projects. You'll apply your technical knowledge across circuits, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cabling, inverters and associated electrical plant. This role requires strong attention to detail, a practical approach to problem-solving and a solid understanding of Australian Standards, grid requirements and relevant regulations. Key responsibilities Determine the type and arrangement of circuits, transformers, switchgear, protection systems, cabling and associated electrical equipment for solar installations Interpret and apply specifications, drawings, Australian Standards, grid requirements and relevant regulations, with a key focus on quality assurance Coordinate and manage technical resources used in the supply, installation and commissioning of electrical components, machines, appliances and equipment Establish delivery, installation and commissioning schedules for switchgear, cables, inverters, transformers and other electrical plant Supervise installation, testing, operation and maintenance activities to ensure safety, reliability, quality and compliance Investigate system performance issues and develop engineering solutions to improve efficiency, reliability and operational outcomes Prepare technical documentation, reports and commissioning records Work collaboratively with project managers, installers, subcontractors, clients and network stakeholders to deliver projects on time and to specification What you'll bring Bachelor degree or higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline At least 1 year of highly relevant electrical engineering experience Previous experience within solar or renewable energy will be highly regarded Strong knowledge of electrical drawings, technical specifications, safety requirements and applicable Australian Standards and regulations Ability to manage competing priorities and coordinate with multiple stakeholders Strong problem-solving, analytical and technical report writing skills Experience with solar PV systems, grid connection requirements, protection systems, inverters or battery energy storage will be highly regarded What's on offer Full-time role based in Sydney Salary of $85,000 - $96,000 plus superannuation Opportunity to work on meaningful solar energy projects Exposure to technical electrical systems across solar installations Collaborative project environment with experienced professionals Career development in the renewable energy sector About TradeConnex TradeConnex is a specialist recruitment and labour hire partner supporting construction, civil, infrastructure and renewable energy projects across Australia.
