We are seeking a new member to join our dynamic Samford State School support team as a Youth Worker. About The School Samford State School is a vibrant primary school located in Samford Village, Queensland, providing quality education for students from Prep to Year 6. About The Role This role is advertised as Full-time, but can be negotiated for the right applicant. The successful applicant must be able to plan student supports as a team, while enacting the plans autonomously. Responsibilities Will Include Be part of the professional team working with the school and the community and liaise with students, teachers,parents, guidance officers, special needs teacher, administrative officers, officers of welfare agencies and othergovernment departments. Forge links between the school and families of students who show persistent absence from schooling to encouragestudents' continuous attendance at school and to assist students determine future educational requirements. Identify and provide appropriate assistance to students experiencing difficulties at school and/or at home. Maintain accurate record keeping. Contribute to a positive, caring and supportive school image in the community. Developing and implementing programs dealing with social skills/assertiveness/self-esteem/etc. Liaising between school community members such as student, fellow students, teachers, administration, parentsand Guidance Officer in understanding strategies to regain more positive educational outcomes for the individual. Attending school events including camps to provide social and emotional support for students. Experience in the role or working with children in a support role would be preferred. Interested?
