The C-130J has been described as the world’s most proven workhorse by those who have designed, flown, maintained and supported the aircraft. This role will see you lead and manage the Quality Assurance (QA) function in support of aviation safety outcomes for the C-130J program, ensuring compliance with regulatory, business, and customer requirements both now and into the future. Drive the development and implementation of robust policies, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to Safety Management System (SMS) and airworthiness obligations. Provide effective leadership of the QA team, including recruitment, performance management, and workforce development, while partnering with operational stakeholders to strengthen safety culture and program performance. Your responsibilities will include: Lead and develop the Quality Assurance capability, fostering a strong safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture aligned to aviation and C-130J program outcomes Oversee QA activities across programs, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, including ISO9001, DASR 21J, Part M, and Defence aviation frameworks Manage QA resource allocation and support program delivery in collaboration with Project Managers, ensuring technical, cost, and schedule objectives are met Lead subcontractor quality oversight, audits, and the identification and resolution of non-conformances, CARs, and OFIs Drive the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of QA systems, inspection processes, and Aviation Safety Management System (ASMS) integration Provide leadership in risk management, process improvement initiatives, and resolution of complex technical and quality issues across programs Support business growth activities by ensuring QA requirements are appropriately scoped, planned, and delivered About you: You are a highly experienced aviation quality and safety professional with a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and continuous improvement within complex operational environments. You bring strong analytical capability, a proactive mindset, and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to drive a positive safety and quality culture. Essential skills & experience: Minimum five years’ experience in Defence or civil aviation Significant experience in a quality management role, ideally within a Defence environment Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, quality, or equivalent practical experience Any of the following is highly desirable: Certified Lead Auditor to ISO9001 and/or AS9110 standards Certification in business improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt) Diploma in Quality Auditing or equivalent Formal leadership or management qualifications Working knowledge of Defence aviation regulations, particularly DASA frameworks (including DASR 21J and Part M) Special Requirements: Applicants must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance and employment may be contingent on the provision of further personal information including citizenship to ensure compliance with international export control legislation and regulations.
