Show Technician $36.89 per hour | Casual Multi Hire Australian Outback Spectacular, Oxenford, Gold Coast The Opportunity The Australian Outback Spectacular Entertainment Department is taking Expressions of Interest from passionate and technically minded individuals who are looking to be multi-hired as Show Technicians. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an immersive, world-class arena show that spins, transforms and comes to life through cutting-edge projection mapping, lighting, audio and special effects. As a Show Technician at Australian Outback Spectacular, you’ll play a critical backstage role in delivering seamless live performances night after night. Key Responsibilities In this hands-on role, you’ll be involved in all aspects of show preparation and execution, including: • Setting and checking props and special effects pre-show • Preparing the arena and technical systems for performances • Operating follow spots, audio and/or lighting equipment • Performing mechanist duties, equipment rigging and special effects operation • Conducting daily checks, cleaning and maintenance of show equipment and vehicles • Cueing cast and acting as a safety observer for performers and animals • Executing shows as directed to ensure performance and set standards are maintained • Troubleshooting technical issues mid-show (including microphones and cues) • Ensuring all equipment is operated in line with safety procedures and requirements What We’re Looking For To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally bring: • Experience working as crew in a live show, theatrical or entertainment environment (desirable) • Experience with theatrical rigging or aerial performance equipment (highly regarded) • Strong knowledge of lighting, projection and/or audio systems (highly regarded) • A good understanding of health and safety requirements • Comfort working in a live performance environment with performers and animals • A current manual driver’s licence (desirable) • Physical fitness and the ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment • Flexibility to work show days, including weekends and school holidays - Typical shifts fall between 3:30pm–10:00pm Monday to Saturday and 9:00am–3:00pm Sundays
