Description About the role The Technical Lead – Platforms & Solutions provides technical leadership across solution delivery, ensuring that all platforms and implementations are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with enterprise standards. The role acts as a key technical authority, guiding design decisions, uplifting delivery practices, and reducing risk across the organisation’s technology landscape. Key responsibilities: Accountability of Deliverables Lead the technical design and delivery of solutions across Microsoft platforms (Azure, M365, Power Platform, Fabric) Act as a technical authority on projects, ensuring solutions are robust, supportable, and aligned to standards Review and endorse solution designs prior to build and deployment Provide hands-on support to resolve complex technical challenges Culture, People and Performance Management Contribute to a high-performing, collaborative team culture across Technology & Data Provide informal leadership, mentoring, and guidance to technical staff and delivery teams Promote consistent engineering practices and continuous improvement Vision and Strategy Support the execution of the organisation’s technology and data strategy Provide technical input into platform direction, roadmaps, and investment decisions Apply industry knowledge and Microsoft platform capabilities to improve service delivery and innovation Governance, Risk and Compliance Define and enforce technical standards, patterns, and guardrails across platforms Ensure solutions comply with: Australian Privacy Act obligations Data classification and protection requirements Security frameworks (e.g. Essential Eight alignment) Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks across projects and platforms Support governance forums (e.g. Technical Review Board) through design assurance and recommendations. System Ownership Provide technical stewardship across core platforms including Azure, M365, Power Platform, and Fabric Ensure appropriate use of environments (Dev / Test / Prod), release management, and CI/CD practices Drive standardisation and reuse of components, patterns, and services Identify opportunities to improve platform performance, cost efficiency, and scalability Review and assess external third-party systems for capability and fit for purpose use within the existing environment and architecture Stakeholder Collaboration Work closely with business stakeholders, delivery teams, and vendors to ensure successful outcomes Translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-aligned insights Influence stakeholders to adopt standardised and compliant approaches to solution delivery Support uplift of technical literacy across both ICT and business-led development teams Role Specific Accountabilities Establish and maintain technical design standards and reference architectures Lead design reviews and provide formal technical endorsement for new solutions Oversee governance of Power Platform and other user development practices Ensure alignment of data solutions with enterprise data architecture (including Fabric and medallion principles where applicable) Act as escalation point for technical issues and delivery risk Skills And Experiences You will bring: Knowledge and Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent experience) Strong knowledge of Microsoft ecosystem including Azure, M365, Power Platform, and data platforms (e.g. Fabric) Understanding of security, privacy, and compliance requirements within Australian regulatory context Experience Proven experience in a technical lead, senior engineer, or solution architecture role Demonstrated experience delivering solutions across complex technology environments Experience working within governance frameworks (e.g. design authority, architecture review, or CAB) Experience supporting delivery across multiple concurrent initiatives Skills Strong technical problem-solving and solution design capability Ability to influence without direct authority Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management Well-developed organisational and prioritisation skills Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery Other Requirements Willingness to undertake all relevant screening and employment checks as applicable for the position and/or as required by HCA Sensitivity to and understanding of issues affecting socially disadvantaged groups including people enduring housing stress, people with disability and people from a non-English speaking background Current driver’s license and willingness to travel across HCA sites and interstate as required.
