Secondary Classroom Teacher – English Southwest Sydney, NSW Full Time | Permanent or Temporary (Terms 3–4) Talent Focus is recruiting a passionate and dynamic Secondary English Teacher for a well-established independent College located in one of the fastest growing regions of Southwest Sydney. We are seeking an educator with experience and passion for English who can teach up to Stage 6 Advanced and Standard English and who is committed to delivering engaging and contemporary learning experiences. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Faculty, the English Classroom Teacher will work collaboratively with staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning programs while contributing positively to the wider life of the College. This role requires an effective and caring educator who demonstrates strong curriculum knowledge, excellent classroom practice and a commitment to ongoing professional growth. Position Details Full Time position Permanent or temporary opportunity available (Terms 3–4) Commencing Term 3, 2026 or as soon as possible Student supervision hours: 8:00am – 3:30pm Attendance at staff meetings and after-hours College events required Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare and deliver engaging English lessons aligned to Stage 4–6 curriculum requirements. Identify clear teaching objectives and effective assessment strategies. Set and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to support student growth. Promote student wellbeing, engagement and academic progress. Participate actively in coaching, professional learning and pedagogical development. Collaborate with colleagues to support the College’s culture and values. Contribute to the co-curricular life of the College. Model professionalism, integrity and positive relationships with students, staff and families. About You The successful candidate will demonstrate: Passion and experience teaching English across secondary year levels. Ability to teach Stage 6 Advanced and/or Standard English. Strong curriculum knowledge and contemporary teaching practice. Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills. A collaborative and team-oriented approach. Commitment to student wellbeing and inclusive education. Confidence integrating technology into teaching and learning. Dedication to ongoing professional development. Essential Requirements Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education. Current NESA teacher accreditation. Experience teaching Stage 4–6 English. Active involvement within a Christian church community. Strong understanding of assessment as, of and for learning. Ability to contribute to the co-curricular life of the College. Desirable Experience Familiarity with Growth Mindset, Habits of Mind and Visible Thinking/Cultures of Thinking frameworks. Experience using restorative practices within a student wellbeing framework.
