Description Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future. Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security. We currently have an opportunity for a Cyber Security Assessor in Canberra, ACT to work on Defence cyber security and assurance projects. What You’ll Do This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: Conduct system Assessment and Authorisation activities per ASD ISM, PSPF, Defence Security Policy, and CSAA requirements. Audit the effectiveness of system security controls and develop key artefacts such as Security Assessment Reports (SAR) and risk statements. Identify, analyse, and escalate cyber security and business risks, assessing vulnerabilities and supporting governance processes. Provide cyber security advice and support to delivery teams, building strong stakeholder relationships. Ensure alignment and compliance with Defence and Australian Government cyber security frameworks and maintain all assessment documentation. What You’ll Bring Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience eligible for DCIAB–CSAA endorsement (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ISO 27001 Lead Auditor, IRAP). Knowledge or experience with air C2 systems/applications or Defence-specific systems. Strong time and project management, written, communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding of modern networking, computers, operating systems, and public sector acquisition/project management (2 years). Experience in Defence CASG environment. Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
