About the role As the Network Strategy & Commercial General Manager, you will set direction and govern network strategy, capacity planning and infrastructure investment priorities, drive commercial governance of network decisions including business case review and cost optimisation, and shape a high-performance culture that sustains capability, accountability and results. Reporting to the Chief Networks Officer, this senior leadership role is accountable for Network Strategy, Network Facilities, Network Partnerships and Network Regulatory Compliance Functions, managing budget and resource allocation while collaborating with senior leaders across Networks, Go to Market and Finance and representing the function in executive forums. The position operates under the company's hybrid model (two days per week in the office) and involves strategic oversight of network planning, capacity management and commercial governance across the organisation. The General Manager role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Perth. What you'll be responsible for Involvement in setting the direction & governing the definition and governance of network strategy, capacity planning and infrastructure investment priorities, to ensure network capabilities meet current and future business demand while optimising cost and performance. Involvement in setting the direction & governing the commercial governance of network decisions, including business case review, cost optimisation initiatives and pricing inputs for strategic, wholesale and enterprise services, to maximise return on network investment. Involvement in setting the direction & governing the end-to-end planning and design of fibre routes and circuits for new services and network changes, using internal and third-party assets and build constraints, to deliver resilient, buildable designs. Involvement in setting the direction & governing the monitoring and management of network capacity and utilisation, including circuit allocation and creation of upgrade or rearrangement orders, to meet demand while protecting performance and service availability. Involvement in setting the direction & governing the shaping of a high-performance culture across the function through clear expectations, best-practice sharing and recognition, to sustain capability, accountability and results. Own the management of function budget and resource allocation, balancing investment costs with delivery returns, to meet profitability and efficiency goals. Set direction & govern the collaboration and influence with senior leaders in Product, Engineering, Finance and Operations, to align function execution with roadmaps, priorities and delivery capabilities. Involvement in setting the direction & governing the representation of the function in executive forums, reporting on performance, market trends and forecasts and advocating for support or strategic shifts, to maximise function success. What you'll bring to the role The following knowledge, experience, capabilities, qualifications, and attributes are required to be successful in the role. Minimum 15 years' experience in strategic advisory, large network deployment programs, network planning, strategy and commercial governance, with demonstrated accountability for infrastructure investment decisions, budget management and cross-functional influence; Degree in Engineering, Telecommunications or related discipline preferred.
