Position: Bartender Position Type : Full-Time Salary: $68,000 to $80,000 plus superannuation per annum Location: Edge Hill, Cairns QLD 4870 Our client is a modern Mexican restaurant and bar located in the heart of Edge Hill, Cairns known for bold flavours, creative cocktails, natural wines and exceptional customer experiences. The venue combines heritage Mexican influences with fresh local Queensland produce, delivering a relaxed yet vibrant dining atmosphere focused on quality service and memorable hospitality. As a Bartender you will play a key role in delivering high-quality beverage service and ensuring guests enjoy a welcoming, professional and engaging bar experience. This position is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintaining bar presentation and stock levels, supporting floor service where required, and contributing to the overall smooth operation of the venue. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Prepare, mix, garnish, and serve signature cocktails, margaritas, tequila and mezcal-based beverages, wines, beers, spirits, and non-alcoholic specialty drinks in accordance with venue standards. Provide customers with recommendations on beverages, including cocktails, tequila selections, mezcal, wines, and food pairings to enhance their dining experience. Take and process beverage orders efficiently, ensuring timely and accurate service during busy lunch and dinner service periods. Operate bar equipment safely and effectively, including coffee machines, glass washers, and beverage dispensing equipment. Monitor compliance with Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) requirements, including checking identification and refusing service where required. Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation of the bar area, including glassware, refrigeration units, utensils, and service stations. Replenish stock levels of beverages, garnishes, glassware, ice, and bar supplies, and assist with stock rotation and stocktakes. Process customer payments accurately and handle cash and EFTPOS transactions in accordance with company procedures. Work closely with kitchen and floor staff to ensure smooth service delivery and a high-quality restaurant dining experience. Assist with opening and closing procedures, private functions, special events, and compliance with workplace health, safety, and food hygiene standards. Requirements: At least AQF certificate III or higher qualification in relevant or hospitality related field. At least one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Bartender or other similar hospitality role. Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification is essential. Strong knowledge of cocktails, beverage preparation, wine service, and bar operations. Experience working in a fast-paced restaurant, bar, or licensed venue environment. Excellent customer service and communication skills with a professional and friendly approach. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high service standards. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, public holidays, and split shifts as required.
