Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist / Programmer to join a high-performing advanced manufacturing team producing precision-engineered components for advanced underwater technology. This is an excellent opportunity for a trade-qualified machinist who enjoys hands-on work, problem solving and leadership within a modern machine shop environment. Key Responsibilities: Program, set up and operate CNC lathes and mills to manufacture complex precision components. Create, modify and optimise CNC programs to improve cycle times, efficiency and product quality. Design and build tooling, jigs, fixtures and work-holding solutions for safe and accurate machining. Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T specifications and solid models. Complete machine setups, first article runs and inspections prior to production release. Monitor machine performance, troubleshoot faults and adjust offsets, tooling or programs as required. Conduct in-process quality checks using calipers, micrometers, gauges and precision measuring tools. Support and supervise operators running repeat production jobs from your setups and programs. Prepare setup sheets, work instructions, travellers and production documentation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity and reduced downtime. What You'll Need: 7 years CNC machining/programming experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong experience with CNC mills, lathes, tooling selection and machine setup. Ability to read technical drawings and machine to tight tolerances. Strong problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail. Leadership or supervisory experience within a workshop environment. Experience with GibbsCAM, Haas machines or similar highly regarded.
