We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Manager Risk & Internal Audit to deliver high-quality risk and internal audit activities that strengthen governance, performance, financial integrity, and compliance. About the role This role plays a critical part in supporting the Accountable Authority’s obligations under the PGPA Act, ensuring appropriate systems of risk oversight and internal controls are in place. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of integrated management systems, embedding a practical, ISO 31000-aligned enterprise risk management framework, consistent with the Commonwealth Risk Management Policy. The focus of the role will be Enterprise Risk Management; Internal Audit Delivery; Audit and Risk Management Support; Governance and Compliance and Reporting and Insights. You will collaborate with senior stakeholders to strengthen risk maturity, mentor staff and promote continuous improvement in risk and audit methodologies. The role will appeal to a confident risk and audit professional with strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. You will have a Degree in business, commerce, accounting, risk, law, audit or related field with professional certifications (CIA, CRMA, CA, CPA) highly regarded. You will have a knowledge of the PGPA Act/Rule, CRMP, and Commonwealth frameworks with experience operating enterprise risk management frameworks in a Commonwealth environment. Your experience will include strong internal audit capability, including RACMs, testing, and reporting with a proven ability to support governance committees and prepare high-quality documentation. Experience developing integrated management systems with strong writing, analysis, and stakeholder engagement skills across internal and external stakeholders is required. Eligibility To be eligible for this role, applicants must be an Australian citizen and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance. A merit pool may be established and used to fill similar vacancies within the High Speed Rail Authority or broader APS for up to 18 months.
