The client is looking to fill a full-time position for a skilled and experienced Accountant. As a key member of the management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial functions of the business operations. The role involves managing the full accounting cycle, from financial analysis and reporting through to statutory compliance and business advisory support. The successful candidate will be highly organised, reliable, and self-motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the business. This position plays an important role in supporting operational decision-making, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring the business maintains strong financial controls across wholesale trading activities. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required, along with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar Accountant role. In this role your main responsibilities include: ·Manage the month-end, quarterly, and annual closing process, including preparation of Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet, and related reports ·Prepare annual budgets in consultation with management and key stakeholders ·Report monthly budget-to-actual performance and provide analysis of key variances ·Monitor sales revenue, wholesale margins, and gross profit performance across business units ·Prepare company and individual income tax returns ·Prepare financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards ·Prepare and lodge Payroll Tax, PAYG, BAS, and FBT returns ·Assist in the formulation and review of budgeting, accounting, and financial control policies ·Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records ·Analyse operating costs, income, expenditure, and profitability trends across the business ·Provide assurance regarding the accuracy and integrity of financial reports ·Offer financial and taxation advice relating to business structures, commercial plans, and operational performance ·Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and other professional consultants as required ·Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls and accounting procedures ·Assist in preparing monthly management reports for senior leadership ·Analyse revenue and expenditure against budget and highlight areas for improvement ·Coordinate with business and operations teams on physical inventory counts and fixed asset verification ·Review stock movement, wastage, shrinkage, and inventory valuation impacts on financial performance · Support analysis of freight, supplier, and distribution costs relevant to fresh produce operations Candidate Requirements You will possess the following skills and attributes: ·A mature and professional approach with strong interpersonal skills ·Ability to organise work effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet reporting and statutory deadlines ·High level of attention to detail and sound analytical ability ·Strong accounting software skills, with the ability to learn new systems quickly ·A methodical, structured, and proactive work style ·Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure ·Understanding of cost control, inventory-driven business operations, and commercial reporting Applications for this opportunity should be forwarded by email to: recruitment@targetbusiness.com.au Please note only short-listed candidates will be contacted and your application will be treated as strictly confidential.
