Role Overview We are seeking a qualified Taxation Accountant to join our professional team. This role involves managing taxation compliance, preparing and lodging tax returns, and providing tax advisory support to a diverse client portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with Australian taxation laws, supporting tax planning activities, and delivering high-quality accounting and taxation services. Key Responsibilities Prepare and lodge income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships Apply Australian taxation legislation, rulings, and compliance requirements in daily practice Prepare and review Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), and GST returns Maintain and reconcile financial records to ensure accuracy in taxation reporting Calculate taxable income, deductions, offsets, and tax liabilities in accordance with legislation Provide taxation advice on compliance obligations, deductions, and tax planning strategies Assist clients with business structuring and tax-effective arrangements (sole trader, partnership, company, trust) Support compliance obligations including Capital Gains Tax (CGT), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and payroll tax Liaise with clients to obtain financial information and resolve accounting and tax matters Prepare supporting working papers and assist with financial statement preparation Identify discrepancies in financial records and recommend appropriate adjustments Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and taxation reporting requirements Maintain accurate documentation for audit, regulatory, and compliance purposes Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a closely related field Qualification must be relevant to accounting and taxation practice and comparable to Australian standards CPA or CA qualification, or progress toward completion, is highly regarded Minimum 1 year of full-time, relevant experience in taxation accounting and/or public practice accounting Demonstrated experience preparing and lodging income tax returns, BAS, IAS, and GST returns Proven ability to apply Australian taxation legislation and compliance requirements in a professional setting Experience in client-facing accounting roles within public practice is highly regarded Ability to perform effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced professional environment What We Offer Exposure to a diverse client portfolio across multiple industries Supportive and professional team environment Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Competitive remuneration package Clear career progression pathways within the firm
