The Role An opportunity is available for a Technical Officer to support laboratory-based scientific research at a facility located in Dutton Park . This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a laboratory-based research environment supporting microbiological and animal science experiments. This is an ongoing contract position until 31 January 2027, with the possibility of a 12‑month extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of laboratory and sample preparation tasks, including: Preparation of buffers, solutions, and anaerobic microbiological media Processing plant material samples for freeze-drying and milling Labelling sample collection tubes Weighing feed for experimental work, including fermentations and in vitro methane batch screening assays Performing general laboratory duties as required The Candidate To be successful in this role, you will have: A minimum qualification of an Associate Diploma in Science, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field Q Fever vaccination, or willingness to undertake Q Fever testing and vaccination Demonstrated laboratory experience in microbiology and/or molecular biology Strong attention to detail Good communication and organisational skills A current Australian driver’s licence How to Apply If you have a strong laboratory background and are seeking a flexible, part‑time role supporting scientific research, we encourage you to apply.
