About the role As a Solicitor at the TAC, you’ll play a pivotal role in our strategy to provide fair, client-focused outcomes, directly impacting the lives of Victorian’s by ensuring access to justice and just compensation. This isn't just a job – it's meaningful work that strengthens our community, one case at a time. You will manage a dynamic portfolio of litigated and non-litigated matters pursuant to the Transport Accident Act . From no-fault disputes and VCAT applications to serious injury applications, common law claims, and prosecutions, you’ll advocate for fairness while providing the TAC with specialised and considered legal advice. Advocate with Impact: Represent TAC in courts and tribunals, including VCAT, Magistrates’, County, and Supreme Courts, using your dispute resolution and litigation expertise to drive fair outcomes. Build relationships: Work with plaintiff solicitors, medical experts, courts and other key stakeholders, leveraging your influence and negotiation skills to achieve just results. Innovate and Solve: Apply analytical and strategic thinking to interpret complex legislation, manage diverse cases, and resolve disputes through formal litigation or alternative dispute resolution methods. Contribute to the Community: Support the TAC’s purpose by ensuring our scheme delivers life-critical services, directly improving lives across Victoria. What we’re looking for Extensive legal experience, including: Extensive knowledge of the Transport Accident Act, common law principles and other relevant legislation and legal policy; Extensive knowledge of the Courts and Tribunal rules, processes and procedures in all relevant jurisdictions; Demonstrated high degree of proficiency in managing complex litigation across various jurisdictions (including at VCAT, County and Supreme Courts); Extensive litigation and alternative dispute resolution experience. Highly developed problem solving, time management, and organisational skills Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, with the ability to influence, negotiate and work under demanding timeframes with changing priorities Strong stakeholder management Demonstrated experience in building relationships with stakeholders, including clients, the legal fraternity, and medical practitioners.
