Broadlands, located at Lucindale, comprises 6,770 hectares and utilises low-stress livestock practices and a rotational grazing system to maintain a large Angus and Hereford female herd. With a focus on backgrounding young cattle for feedlot and processor markets, the farm uses 9 centre pivots and, seasonally, conducts a lamb trading enterprise. Currently, the breeding herd consists of 3,600 cows, with a large portion of young cattle retained for finishing and joining as replacement stock. As the Senior Farm Hand, you will be the cornerstone of technical reliability for the operation, ensuring all machinery, vehicles, and infrastructure are in peak condition. Your primary focus involves the servicing and maintenance of nine irrigation pivots, pivot engines, tractors, JCB telehandlers, vehicles, and side-by-side vehicles. Beyond the workshop, you will maintain an organised spare parts inventory and play a vital part in general farm operations, including feeding and working with cattle. This is a dynamic position where you will pivot between technical mechanical tasks and hands-on livestock work as part of a high-performing team. Trade Qualified : A trained mechanic is preferred, ideally with experience in an agricultural setting. Autonomous Worker : Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and exercise initiative. Strong Communicator : Capable of providing regular updates to management and collaborating effectively with the team. Record Keeper : Diligent in maintaining accurate maintenance and operational records. Versatile : Comfortable working across both mechanical tasks and livestock/general farm duties.
