About the role The Supply and Distribution Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the end-to-end strategic planning, implementation, and oversight of Kent Street Cellars' supply chain and logistics operations. The incumbent will ensure the seamless flow of premium goods from suppliers to the warehouse, and ultimately to the end consumer. This role is tasked with optimising distribution networks, managing third-party logistics (3PL) and carrier relationships, and maintaining the highest standards of inventory integrity and regulatory compliance within a high-volume e-commerce environment. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Logistics and Distribution Planning Developing and implementing integrated logistics and distribution strategies to support the company's growth in the premium online retail sector. Designing and optimising delivery networks to facilitate same-day Sydney Metro delivery and nationwide express shipping. Evaluating and selecting optimal transport modes and routes to balance cost-efficiency with the speed and care required for fragile, high-value goods. Carrier and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) Management Monitoring and auditing the performance of external logistics partners to ensure adherence to delivery timelines and handling protocols. Managing relationships with international shipping agents for the importation of exclusive global wine and spirit portfolios. Order Fulfilment and Warehouse Operations Directing the daily operations of the fulfilment centre, ensuring that high volumes of online orders are processed, picked, and packed with 100% accuracy. Implementing advanced warehouse management systems (WMS) and workflows to improve throughput and reduce lead times. Overseeing specialised packaging protocols for fragile items (glassware and premium bottles) to minimise transit damage and insurance claims. Inventory Control and Supply Coordination Liaising with procurement teams and suppliers to coordinate the timely receipt of stock and manage inbound logistics schedules. Implementing rigorous inventory control systems, including cycle counting and stock reconciliation, to maintain high levels of inventory accuracy. Monitoring stock levels to prevent stock-outs of high-demand items while minimising capital tied up in slow-moving inventory. Compliance, Safety, and Quality Assurance Ensuring all logistics and distribution activities comply with the Liquor Act 2007 (NSW) and relevant interstate regulations regarding the transport and delivery of alcohol. Maintaining strict adherence to Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) standards within the warehouse and distribution environment. Managing the logistics of returns and "Return to Sender" (RTS) processes, ensuring quality checks are performed on returned premium stock. Data Analysis and Performance Reporting Establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to logistics costs, delivery lead times, order accuracy, and warehouse productivity. Utilising data analytics to forecast future supply chain requirements and identify opportunities for operational cost savings. Reporting regularly to senior management on supply chain performance and strategic logistics initiatives. Team Leadership and Resource Management Leading, mentoring, and managing the logistics and fulfilment team to foster a culture of excellence and accountability. Planning and managing workforce requirements, particularly during peak seasonal periods (e.g., Christmas, EOFY). Overseeing the maintenance and operation of logistics equipment and technology. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in managing the distribution of fragile goods and a thorough understanding of the regulatory requirements surrounding the sale and transport of alcohol in Australia. Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, and advanced Excel for data modelling and reporting. Ability to align logistics operations with broader commercial business objectives. A meticulous eye for detail and a commitment to process improvement and efficiency. Proven ability to negotiate favourable terms with carriers and service providers. Capacity to resolve complex logistical bottlenecks and delivery issues in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead diverse teams and manage stakeholder expectations.
