Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Location: Robertson Barracks, Darwin NT Immediate start through to 18/01/27 with the opportunity to transition into a permanent role. An exciting opportunity exists for a qualified and experienced Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to support Defence operations at Robertson Barracks. You will conduct routine maintenance, inspections and repairs on a wide range of heavy military vehicles including 4WDs, trucks, tracked and armoured vehicles, as well as plant and stationary equipment. Work Hours: Monday - Thursday: 7:30am - 4:00pm Friday: 7:30am - 2:00pm (early finish every Friday) Key Responsibilities Perform maintenance and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment Service, diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, suspension and braking systems Work on 4x4s, trucks, heavy machinery and related equipment Conduct inspections and complete work to required standards and timeframes Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using testing equipment Repair diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems Ensure vehicles meet roadworthy and compliance standards Carry out brake, minor body and trim repairs Undertake welding and machining as required Manage parts and consumables Provide technical advice and report additional faults Support continuous improvement initiatives Requirements Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent) Proven heavy vehicle mechanical experience Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics and heavy vehicle brake systems Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults Welding experience desirable Defence experience desirable but not essential Licences & Compliance Current Driver's Licence (required) Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence preferred Ability to obtain and maintain Defence/security clearances Police Check valid within 28 days Australian Citizenship required If you're a skilled Heavy Vehicle Mechanic ready for a rewarding role, apply now.
