Tier 2 contractor with strong pipeline of $500K-$5M commercial projects Key role delivering accurate electrical estimates and winning tenders Supportive team with clear career growth opportunities Position Description: Electrical Estimator Location: Brisbane, QLD Company Type: Tier 2 Commercial Contractor Project Range: $500K - $5M Position Summary The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates for electrical installations across a range of commercial construction projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors, this role plays a critical part in securing new business and ensuring successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Tendering Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical works on commercial projects ($500K-$5M). Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications to determine project requirements. Conduct quantity take-offs and cost analysis using estimating software and manual methods. Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options within tenders. Prepare and submit tender documentation within deadlines. Supplier & Subcontractor Engagement Source and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Evaluate quotes for compliance, accuracy, and commercial viability. Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and industry contacts. Project Handover Assist in the smooth transition from tender award to project delivery team. Provide detailed cost breakdowns, assumptions, and clarifications to project managers. Support procurement activities where required. Market & Industry Awareness Stay up to date with market rates, material costs, and labour trends in the Brisbane construction sector. Monitor competitor activity and industry developments. Compliance & Documentation Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Maintain accurate records of tenders, cost data, and historical pricing. Key Skills & Experience Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within commercial construction. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and Australian standards. Experience estimating projects in the $500K-$5M range (Tier 2 or similar environment preferred). Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., SimPRO, Aconex, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately. Strong analytical and numerical skills with high attention to detail. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously. Qualifications Electrical trade qualification and/or tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar. Relevant industry certifications (desirable but not essential). Personal Attributes Commercially astute with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Reporting Line Reports to: Estimating Manager / Pre-Construction Manager Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Accuracy and competitiveness of estimates. Tender success rate (win ratio). Adherence to tender deadlines. Quality of documentation and handover to delivery teams. Contribution to value engineering and cost-saving initiatives.
